Susie Charles and the 81A

Our County Councillor is Mrs Susie Charles.

I expect that as a Councillor for a rural area she is opposed to the complete cancellation of the 81A bus service, proposed by the County Council. However, it would do no harm to let her know (email being the easiest way) your feelings about the loss of the 81A route through Gressingham, Arkholme and Whittington.

My personal view is that for County to expect the parishioners of Gressingham, Arkholme and Whittington to continue paying the same level of Council Tax whilst the people of Caton, Hornby, Melling and Kirkby Lonsdale continue to have at least a 2 hourly service whilst we have NONE, is unreasonable. 1. As a relative newby to the village thought I would chance a blog. I personally feel that the loss of the bus will have a massive negative effect on all the villages. I am not adverse to walking and regularly walk into Kl and then get the bus back and for those that know me a little, not always after a couple of glasses of wine. I have been using the buses a couple of times a month for the last four years whilst at Whittington and whilst I am fare paying there has probably been more times when hubby and me have been alone on the bus. I have wondered how it can be financially viable? It is easy to take public transport for granted when like me you work in the city and can just jump on a tram, bus, flag a taxi or get the train and all this cheaper than driving, parking and spending time on chocker block motorways. If we don’t use it and pay for it we will lose it,
