Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting
held on 2nd March 2010

 

  1. PRESENT:
    Cllrs. S. Close
    G. Hodgson
    E. Pelter
    PCSO A Hoover

    APOLOGIES received from J. E Lawson, R Mackereth and P.C. Joanne Humphrey.

  2. MINUTES of the last meeting on 5th January 2010 were agreed and signed.

  3. POLICE REPORT One crime to report; a sheep rollover crate, which had been chained to a sheep pen was stolen from Nanny Hall between 10.30 and 11.30 on 29th January.

    PC Humphrey and PCSO Hoover have had a high, positive response rate to their questionnaire about the Farmwatch Scheme.

  4. MATTERS ARISING. There were no matters arising

  5. CORRESPONDENCE. Various items had been circulated and were discussed. Requests for support from 1st Arkholme Brownies, which several Whittington girls attend, and Wagtail Playgroup and Toddlers resulted in donations of £100.00 and £150.00 respectively.

    The Parish Council decided not to enter Lancashire Best Kept Village Competition this year.

  6. FINANCES.
    Current Account: £343.97. Savings Account: £2078.43
    Received since last meeting; £74.23 VAT repayment.
    Agreed at the meeting: Ch. No. 357. £1st Arkholme Brownies £100.00, Ch. No.358. Wagtail Playgroup and Toddlers £150.00.

  8. OTHER MATTERS. Cllr. Hodgson reported on the meeting of the Lancaster Area Committee. Lancaster City Council is proposing cuts in funding in many areas.

    Cllr. Mace's proposed motion on changes to funding after the abolition of Special Measures was discussed and has been put before the City Council.

    Cllr. Pelter proposed that, in order to prepare a response to the expected planning proposal to build 9 wind turbines on the Northern edge of the parish, a questionnaire be circulated to every household to gather parishioners' opinions. Clerk to prepare draft and consult the councillors. Results to be requested before the Annual Parish Meeting on 27th April.

    Cllr. Close reported the seat at Harbour near Docker is in a poor state. He will take measures to make it safe.

  9. THE NEXT MEETING The Annual Parish Meeting will be held on Tuesday 27th April at 8pm. All parishioners are welcome to attend and participate in this meeting.

    The next meeting is the AGM on Tuesday 4th May at 8pm. Parishioners are welcome to attend as observers.

    After the close an observer commented on the increase in dog fouling. Clerk will pass this concern to the Police.
