WHITTINGTON PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on 7 March 2006

    APOLOGIES: : Cllr. G. Hodgson CSO D. Gwilliam

  2. MINUTES of the last meeting were agreed and signed.

  3. POLICE REPORT: PC Winder was pleased to report that no offences had been committed in the parish since the last meeting.

  4. MATTERS ARISING: Highways have told Cllr. Close that they do not have the money to complete the work at Docker at the moment.
    Whittington Hall Estates will continue to rent the sporting rights on Town Quarry.

  5. CORRESPONDENCE: Various items had been received and were noted. Councillors resolved to enter the Best Kept Village competition again this year.

  6. FINANCES: Current Acc. 31302.41; Bonus Savings Acc. £2265.00
    Cheques authorised at he meeting; Ch. No. 000290 for £72.02 (Affiliation fees to LAPTC);
    Ch. No. 000291 £300.00,( Funds to support the production of Wagtail);
    Ch. No. 000292 £10.00 (entry fee to BKV competition)
    Councillors resolved to pay the cost of the refurbishment of the cenotaph; £ 185.00 approx.

  8. OTHER MATTERS: The Parish Assembly will be held in the village hall on Tuesday 25th April at 8pm. All parishioners are invited to attend and may raise items for the Council to address in the coming year. Council decided not to invite any speaker this year.

    The PCC. Had approached the Parish Council concerning an area of unpaved ground between the Church steps and paving put down when the new retaining wall was erected. Large wagons mount the kerb to avoid parked vehicles and PCC fear that the wall's foundations may be damaged. Highways will not pave this section. The Parish Council requested that the clerk obtain an estimate to strengthen this section and provide a hard surface.

The meeting closed at 9.15pm
The AGM will be held on Tuesday 1st May at 8pm.
