WHITTINGTON PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on 1 November 2005

 

  1. PRESENT:

  2. POLICE REPORT: In the absence of P.C. Winder CSO Gwilliam reported an attempted break in at a house in Loyne Park on the night 7th- 8th October which involved removing a door lock. This was similar to a crime in Ingleton which resulted in the theft of a vehicle. Cllr. Hodgson reported his vehicle being approached by Sellet Mill while he was waiting with lights off. When his companion arrived the other vehicle quickly drove off. A building has been broken into at Chapel Farm and vehicles tampered with. Parishioners are reminded to be vigilant.
    The priorities suggested for PACT this month were speeding and the use of mobile phones while driving.

  3. MATTERS ARISING: Burrow Mill Lane - Cllr. Airey offered to approach the authorities again on the state of this bridleway.
    Drainage at Docker - no progress has been made, there are still plates covering a hole in the road. Cllr. Close will approach Highways Dept. directly.
    Both Geraldine Smith MP and city Cllr. Airey have made known their support for the Sustainable Communities Bill.

  4. CORRESPONDENCE: Various items have been received and were noted.
    A letter was received from Cllr. Tony Martin (Cabinet Member for Sustainable Development) assuring us that there will be no reduction in the treatment of roads this winter and that there are no plans to remove any salt bins/heaps either.

  5. FINANCES: Current Acc. £2,378.91; Bonus savings Acc. £3,102.93Cheques paid since the last meeting; Ch. No. 283. £250.00. (Clerk's salary); Ch. No. 285. £90.00 (Floral Comp.); Ch. No. 286. £501.50 (Payment for painting sight railings)
    Cheques signed at the meeting: Ch. No. 287. £25.00 (Royal British Legion poppy Appeal in payment for wreath), Ch. No. 288. £300.00 (Donation to NW Air Ambulance)It was resolved that, in view of the increased interest, the prize money for the floral competition should be doubled next year to give twice the number of prizes.

  6. PLANNING: One application received:
    Application No. 05/01348/FUL
    Erection of a two storey extension to provide garage utility room, kitchen, bedreoom with en- suite and loft room.

  7. OTHER MATTERS: Clerk asked to request sweeping to clear leaves from footways.Complaints had been received that foliage obscures some lights in Church Street.

There being no further business,the meeting closed at 9.15pm.
