Minutesof the Parish Council Meeting held on 2nd November 2004

  2. The minutes of the meeting held on 7th September 2004 were agreed and signed
  3. POLICE REPORT:  In the absence of P.C. Winder, C.S.O. Gwilliam reported that the parish had been free of crime. After a report of speeding in Newton  P.C. Winder warned the driver of possible consequences. P.C. Winder will be visiting the village on a regular basis in his mobile office under the PACT project next year. A list of dates will be posted on the notice boards. He will continue to travel with the Library van.
    C.S.O. Gwilliam reminded Cllrs. About the free Home Safety Fire Check offered by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and handed out notices advising on Firework safety.
    Poaching has been reported in areas close to the parish. C.S.O. was assured that gamekeepers were aware and were keeping in touch.
  4. MATTERS ARISING: The notice board at Docker Lane remains in disrepair. Cllr Pelter and Clerk to follow this up.
    Refuse collection at Keerside;  this is now being collected weekly.
    Stones have been cleared from the pathway at the road gate to the long footpath.
    Cllr. Hodgson will lay the wreath on behalf of the parish on Remembrance Sunday
  5. CORRESPONDENCE: Various items of correspondence had been read and were accepted
  6. FINANCES:
    The current account stands at £2018
    The saver account stands at £2050
    (Both figures approximate, bank statement not yet received)
    Monies withdrawn since the last meeting:

  7. PLANNING: Three applications received:

    Application No.  04/021217/FUL
    Demolition of existing dwelling and erection of new dwelling

    Modification of approved scheme 99/01149/FUL for the conversion of redundant farm buildings

  8. OTHER MATTERS: The council asked that the Police be made aware of the problem of dog fouling, particularly in the churchyard and on the Long Footpath. C.S.O. Gwilliam will pass this on to P.C. Winder who will take action with the dog owners. Mike Harper will be asked to paint the milestones in the parish. Clerk will enquire about road warning signs to protect him while working on these and the railings.
    Cllrs. Close and Lawson reported drainage problems at locations in Newton and Docker. Clerk to report and request the Council to liaise with these Cllrs. for exact locations.

The meeting closed at 9.15pm.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday 4th January 2005 at 8.00pm
