From the M6 Northbound

Exit at Junction 35. At the exit island pass over the M6 and take the next exit B6254 “Over Kellet”. At the T Junction turn left, signposted, Over Kellet, Kirkby Lonsdale.

 Travel a distance of about 10 miles to Whittington.

From the M6 Southbound

Exit the M6 at Junction 36 take the A65 East. Continue up the A65 to Kirkby Lonsdale. There are three roads (on the left) into Kirkby town centre. Pass the first and second (Booths Supermarket) and at the third take the right turn signposted B6254 Carnforth and Whittington. The first village you come to is Whittington.

Filling Stations

It is probably worth knowing that there are now only two filling stations in the area, and they close in the early evening.

Kirkby Lonsdale Motors - are located a mile or so to the West of Kirkby on the A65. (Petrol, Diesel and Gas)

Casterton Garage - can be found at the entry to Casterton, on the A683 after taking the turn at Devils Bridge on the A65. (Petrol, Diesel and Gas)

Crossroads Garage - can be found, at the crossroads, in Arkholme a couple of mile in the Carnforth direction along the B6254. The garage is now open for repairs but no longer sells fuel.

Grocery Shopping Facilities

THE ARKHOLME VILLAGE STORE - is located at the cross roads in Arkholme, across the road from the school.

SPAR - is located in the Main Street in Kirkby Lonsdale and is open until 10.00pm in the evening Weekdays and Saturday.

BOOTHS Supermarket - is at the junction of New Road in Kirkby and the A65. The store is open until 9.00pm Monday to Saturday and until 4.00pm on Sunday.

The Dragons Head - can always provide meals, and liquid refreshments, for those who do not wish to shop for groceries. You will find the Dragons Head on Main Street Whittington opposite the Village Hall (tell Dave that we sent you). Please note that The Dragons Head does not open on Mondays
